Lotusbird Lodge is located 480 kilometres north of Cairns, and 28 kilometres east of the Musgrave Roadhouse, on the western boundary of Lakefield National Park in central eastern Cape York.
Lotusbird Lodge Cape York comprises 10 individual pole style cabins set amongst shady eucalypts along the inner bank of a large horseshoe shaped billabong. Each cabin has its own private verandah over looking the billabong and is very comfortably furnished, with ensuite.
Lotusbird Lodge was named after the Jacana (Lotusbirds) that inhabit the billabong and while not a dedicated bird watchers lodge, bird watching is one of the major activities of the lodge.
The local environment ranges from open Eucalypt woodland and gallery forests, to grassy plains, marshlands, creeks and lagoons, providing the ideal habitat for over 200 species of birds - wading, migratory and resident woodland and grassland birds, including several species endemic to Cape York.
We are just 9 kilometres from Lakefield National Park.
